The bald eagle, the national symbol of the United States, is a bird of prey with a range including Alaska, most of Canada, all of the contiguous USA and northern Mexico. The largest common raptor of North America, bald eagles are found near large areas of open water and subsist mainly on fish. Males and females have identical plumage, but females are 25% larger than males. The wing span ranges from 6 to 7.5 feet.
